“So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel work as slaves.”  -Exodus 1:13

The world and their infernal god

Have ruled us with an iron rod,

And long our slavish souls have been

Galled by the rigorous yoke of sin:

Yet drudging on with abject fear

We served our haughty lords severe,

And hardly daring to complain,

We kissed the rod, and hugged the chain.
