Text for Sunday, february 2, 2020:

Ezra 4:1-5

PReparation for worship

“Christ alone makes all other [false allies] suddenly vanish. There is nothing that Satan so much endeavors to accomplish as to bring on mists with the view of obscuring Christ, because he knows, that by this means the way is opened up for every kind of falsehood. This, therefore, is the only means of retaining, as well as restoring pure doctrine: to place Christ before the view such as He is with all His blessings, that His excellence may be truly perceived.”

John Calvin

“Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.”

I Corinthians 11:14-15

Pastor's Note

Dear Ones,

To overcome our enemies, it seems to me that we need one another and in particular, we need one another’s encouragement.

Life is often hard and the life of following Jesus is hard. Having others to come alongside of me to encourage me with truth is priceless.

How do I know that encouragement is so key?

Because, the opposite of encouragement- discouragement- is one of the most powerful weapons used by our Enemy against the people of God.

All of us have a gift to give one another and that gift is the encouragement of the truth of Jesus.

Heaven will be all the sweeter for that.

Warmly,
Steve
