March 17, 2019: Wings
TEXT FOR SUNDAY, MArch 17, 2019:
PReparation for worship
“I came to You late, O Beauty so ancient and new. I came to love You late. You were within me and I was outside where I rushed about wildly searching for You like some monster loose in Your beautiful world. You were with me but I was not with You. You called me, You shouted to me, You wrapped me in Your Splendor, You broke past my deafness, You bathed me in Your Light, You sent my blindness reeling.”
–Augustine of Hippo, from Confessions
“Under His wings you will find refuge.”
“You were not willing.” Jesus says this of the city of Jerusalem. He longed for a loving and protective relationship with his people but they were unwilling.
May it never be said of us that we are unwilling for any of the things Jesus has for us.
