TEXT FOR SUNDAY,  April 14, 2019:

Psalm 118:1-29

PReparation for worship

“We cannot go to the Kingdom; it must come to us.” – Adolph Saphir

Pastor's Note

Dear Ones,

Happy Palm Sunday!

Today’s sermon text must have been on Jesus’ mind as he rode into Jerusalem. This Psalm is so triumphant. You can almost hear the noise of the crowd and the joy of worship and festive singing.

Except there is one participant in this procession who might not be so happy…

“Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
up to the horns of the altar!”

The festal sacrifice is leading the procession into Jerusalem. Not only will Jesus be nailed to a cross  but he will be rejected by the “builders” and become the chief cornerstone.

Jesus sees and knows where this is going to end up and he rides on.
