In 1987, 27,000 Sudanese children fled their devastated homeland on foot to escape the threat of genocide. God Grew Tired of Us follows three young men who find a new life as refugees in the U.S. Join us as we consider the compelling questions of suffering and providence, and our identity as human beings. WEPC Artist Community Presents the Portraits Lecture Series
“And who is my Neighbor?”, Jake Lyell, Photographer
November 20th, 7PM, WEPC Chapel

Developed nations function in such a way that decisions and changes in one nation effect another. This was demonstrated in recent months by the trouble in the US economy and the ripples seen throughout the world. While a tumbling stock market, high gas prices and massive home foreclosures are of legitimate concern, Scripture reminds us again and again that we must be concerned with issues such as poverty, hunger, war and oppression. In this multimedia presentation of his work, Jake will lead us through an intimate look into the lives of those living in the developing world and to discuss the challenges their plight presents to us as Christians. Photographs by Jake Lyell Witnessing Aid in Tanzania, East Africa (2008) are currently displayed in the WEPC Gallery. Jake is a part of WEPC church plant Franklin Street Community, and you can see more of his work at www.jakelyell.com
